If you’re booking family portraits in Charlotte, North Carolina, here are my best tips to help everything go smoothly and make sure you walk away not only loving your photos, but actually enjoying the process:

1. Trust the Process (I’ve Got You)

You don’t need to know what to wear, how to pose, or how to get your toddler to smile. That’s my job. From wardrobe styling to hair and makeup to gently guiding you during the session—I take care of all of it so you can show up and just be present. You’re not doing this alone, and you never have to guess.

2. Let Go of the Pressure

Perfection isn’t the goal—connection is. Some of the most beautiful images happen in between the “posed” moments: when your little one wraps their arms around you unexpectedly or laughs into your shoulder. Your job is to show up, love on your people, and let me capture the magic.

3. Plan Ahead—But Be Flexible

Yes, we’ll plan out your session location, wardrobe, and timing, but know that flexibility is key—especially with kids involved. Sessions are designed to be relaxed and baby/kid-friendly. Need to stop for a snack or take a moment to regroup? Totally okay. We build in time for that.

4. Say Yes to Hair & Makeup

I include professional hair and makeup in your session for a reason—because you deserve to feel pampered, confident, and camera-ready. It also takes the stress out of your morning and helps you feel like the most radiant version of yourself (even if you’re still in the newborn fog!).

5. Focus on the Experience, Not the Outcome

When you let yourself be fully present—snuggling your baby, laughing with your partner, playing with your kids—that’s when the magic happens. Don’t worry about how things look in the moment. I’m capturing how they feel, and those are the images you’ll treasure most.

Whether you’re booking maternity, newborn, or family portraits in Charlotte, North Carolina, the goal is always the same: to make sure you feel confident, cared for, and completely in love with the final images.

The hardest part? Just deciding to do the session. If you’ve been thinking about it—whether it’s time for updated family portraits or you’ve got a milestone you don’t want to miss—I’m here to make the rest feel easy.

You don’t have to do it alone. I’ll walk you through every step and make sure it’s an experience you truly enjoy.
