Most moms book a newborn session, take the photos, and move on. But if you’ve been thinking about Charlotte first year photography — how to actually preserve this whole season of your life — there’s a different way to think about it.
Instead of three separate decisions (maternity, newborn, first birthday), think of it as ONE story. One year. Three sessions. The same photographer who knows your family by heart, watching your baby grow from belly to one-year-old.
Here’s how to plan your maternity, newborn, and first birthday sessions together — and why doing it this way changes everything.
Why Charlotte First Year Photography Belongs in One Plan
When you book each session as a separate decision, a few things tend to happen:
- You forget how fast time is moving — and the first birthday sneaks up before you’ve planned anything.
- You end up with three different photographers, three different styles, three different aesthetics that don’t feel cohesive.
- You spend mental energy each time deciding wardrobe, location, and timing.
- You end up with photographs that feel disconnected from each other.
When you plan all three together — with one photographer who knows your family — the entire year flows differently.
Session 1: Maternity (Weeks 30–36)
The best trimester for maternity photos is the third — typically between 30 and 36 weeks. Your bump is fully there, but you’re still comfortable enough to move and feel like yourself.
During your maternity session, we’ll capture:
- You and your bump (solo)
- You with your partner
- You with your older children, if you have them
- Quiet moments — the way you look down at your belly, the way your husband holds you

Session 2: Newborn (Within 14 Days of Birth)
Your newborn session typically happens within the first 7–14 days after baby arrives. Because we already did your maternity session, this part feels seamless. I know your home, your wardrobe preferences, your older kids.
Session 3: First Birthday (Around 11–12 Months)
Your final Charlotte first year photography session is your baby’s first birthday — usually scheduled around 11 or 12 months. By now, baby has personality.
And here’s where the magic happens: when you put all three sessions side by side, you have the story of your baby’s first year, beginning to end.

How My Collective Membership Makes Charlotte First Year Photography Easy
I created the Collective Membership for exactly this reason. It’s an experience designed for moms who want all three sessions preserved as one cohesive story.
Collective Members receive:
- 3–4 sessions across a 15-month period
- Complimentary professional hair and makeup at every session
- Access to my full client wardrobe at every session
- A relationship — not just a transaction
- Pricing built around the full year, not session-by-session
Membership is limited to 12 families per year — because the experience is built around relationship.

Why This Matters
Your baby’s first year is the only one of its kind. The bump that becomes the baby that becomes the toddler — it all happens in twelve months, and then it’s gone. Charlotte first year photography all together isn’t about more photos. It’s about not missing the ones that matter.
